When you unlock a Group Ride, a deposit of $6 per rider (Canada, Australia and New Zealand) and £3 per rider (United Kingdom) will be put on hold in your selected payment method, unless you have more than $30/£15 in your eWallet.
Depending on your selected payment method, you may see this deposit as a pre-authorisation transaction on your bank statement. This deposit simply ensures that there will be sufficient funds available for payment of the Group Ride.
After a Group Ride is completed, if you have sufficient funds in your selected payment method, the deposit will be returned to you in full within 10 business days and you will only be charged for the cost of the trip fare.
If you have insufficient funds in your selected payment method, the deposit will be used to offset the cost of the trip fare:
- Deposit exceeds trip fare - If the trip fare costs less than $6/£3, you will only be charged for the cost of the trip fare and the remaining amount from the deposit will be returned to you within 10 business days.
- Trip fare exceeds deposit - If the trip fare costs more than $6/£3, the cost of the trip fare will be charged directly from the deposit and the outstanding amount will be charged to you as a pending payment.
The cost of the trip fare is calculated per rider and not as a group. You can check the fares of each trip under Menu > Trip History in your App.
